We are prayerfully seeking our next Student Pastor at FBC Houston.
Student Pastor Job Description
The Student Pastor (7th-12th Grades & College Ministry) will lead and coordinate all FBC student gatherings and ministries in accordance with the Scriptures and the mission/vision of FBC Houston. The Student Pastor will be purpose-driven and lead with quality effectiveness and above reproach character. The Student Pastor will also share responsibility for the children’s ministry alongside the Senior Pastor and Worship Pastor. The Student Pastor will conduct administrative duties that present themselves (calendar planning, coordination, budget balancing, etc…). All this is done in service to FBC Houston, which is pastor-led, deacon-served, and congregationally approved.
The Student Pastor will serve in a leadership role to:
- Further FBC Houston’s mission & vision of making and teaching disciples through Connecting,
Growing, and Living for Christ. - Lead the Student Ministry in a greater depth and understanding of God and His Gospel.
- Lead the Student Ministry on Sunday mornings through Sunday School Groups, and Sunday
evenings through personal and group discipleship ministry. - Lead the Student Ministry on Wednesday evenings through fellowship, worship, and teaching.
- Equip parents with resources for better discipleship in the home/family.
- Coordinate and plan with student Sunday School teachers, volunteers, and church staff.
- Coordinate and plan camps, retreats, hang-outs, leader trainings, and mission opportunities.
- Work with the Senior Pastor and staff with any administrative duties that present themselves.
- Support church events in attendance and participation when able.
The Student Pastor must:
- Develop and maintain their relationship with Jesus through regular time with God.
- Provide a shepherding vision and leadership to FBC’s Student Ministry.
- Teach with clear depth regarding the gospel and the Scriptures.
- Create a discipleship culture with adult volunteers and students.
- Recruit, disciple, mentor, and develop Student Ministry Volunteers.
- Recruit, disciple, mentor, and develop Student Leadership Team.
- Communicate expectations and responsibilities clearly with Student Ministry volunteers.
- Meet regularly with Senior Pastor for coordination and planning.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
- Collaborate and provide assistance/leadership/training with staff, leaders, and volunteers for
Children’s Ministry. - Be available for pastoral duties if called upon (visitation, spiritual counseling, teaching,
preaching). - Create and maintain annual budget with Senior Pastor, staff, Finance Committee, with
congregation affirmation. - Be accessible, approachable, and lead with a relational heart.
- Maintain an organized approach to planning, organization, and executing student ministry
plans/events..
